Upgrading Midnight Commander (mc)

Compilation of Midnight Commander (mc) from ports usually goes with no issues. Viewing PDFs in Chromium on Linux Mint

Since the PDF library is not a free software, it isn’t included with the distribution of Chromium.

To get PDF support in Chromium:

  1. download the appropriate DEB package for your system from
  2. using the archive manager, extract from /opt/google/chrome/
  3. copy that file into /usr/lib/chromium-browser/ (remember you have to root or use sudo)
  4. restart Chromium if you have it
